Group therapy sessions are held with a group of individuals facing the same issues e.g. addiction, anxiety, life changes etc. It helps to know that one is not alone and this feeling provide relaxation and relief to individuals. At times, the group may be mixed to benefit group members maximally. Though a relatively new concept in India, I have held many group therapy sessions for individuals and corporates leading to some amazing breakthroughs. Group therapy provide support and act as a sounding board helping you accept and move forward in life. Being part of a group is useful for easing the sense of isolation and helps social skills to develop. Group therapy can be incredibly powerful and helps an individual to introspect on behaviours and actions through group learning.
Who will benefit from Group Therapy?
- Many times, a group of individuals sharing a common goal run into issues and the intervention by a certified psychotherapist helps to plug these issues with proper conflict resolution.
- Group therapy offers valuable insights and breakthroughs to those who are battling with issues that they are too close to see.
